Hiroshima Women's University – Hiroshima city – Hiroshima Prefecture

In celebration of its 120th anniversary, the Hiroshima Women’s University built a new chapel and wanted a unique and original way of decorating the chapel’s façade.  The PACCARD Group’s Japanese agent, Mr. Ogiri, of Carillonneur, Ltd., designed and installed this beautiful ARS SONORA®, made of 14 heavy-profile bells, for this occasion.

The ARS SONORA® plays six times each day, rotating through a pre-determined list of stored hymns.  Over 50 different seasonal melodies are programmed and used at various times of the year.

The bells are rung by our HARMONY controller, which was designed for this purpose, and this particular ARS SONORA® has a special feature – each bell is equipped with a dynamic striker.  This affords greater volume control and a wider range of musical interpretation.

The University’s new chapel has become an oasis of prayer and peacefulness, and The PACCARD Group, along with Mr. Ogiri, is pleased to have been a part of making that happen.

Enhancing a site and creating a special atmosphere are just two of the benefits of having an ARS SONORA® installation.
