Doushisya Elementary School  – Kyoto Prefecture

The famous "University" School near Kyoto now has an ARS SONORA® installed in the courtyard, where college songs, hymns and the local children's songs are played throughout the year.

The PACCARD Group’s Japanese agent, Mr. Ogiri, of Carillonneur, Ltd., designed and installed this fantastic ARS SONORA®, made of 15 heavy-profile bells in April of 2006.

More than 70 melodies have been recorded so far, and, with the help of their teachers, students can create and store their own compositions, too.  The bells are rung by our HARMONY controller, which can store up to 1,000 songs before reaching capacity, and each bell is in this ARS SONORA® is equipped with a special dynamic striker.  This affords greater volume control and a wider range of musical interpretation possibilities.

The courtyard really comes to life at Christmastime when the tree next to the sculpture is decorated and beautifully lit.  With Christmas songs and hymns ringing forth from the ARS SONORA®, it becomes a special place indeed!

Enhancing a site and creating a special atmosphere are just two of the benefits of having an ARS SONORA® installation.  The students of the Doushisya Elementary School also get to enjoy interacting directly with the ARS SONORA®, by working with their teachers to program and record new melodies.
