A worldwide reputation Since 1796, the Paccard Bell Foundry is the master in the casting of big bells. It has the highest record of accomplishments in the world. "La Savoyarde", the biggest bell in France (19 tons), the largest set of bells in the World in Markham, Canada (6, 10 and 19 tons) and the World Peace Bell, the largest swinging bell in the world (33 tons) !

The bell is an instrument with a very rich sound, yet it doesn’t play its Fundamental note or its accompanying Harmonics with correct tuning naturally… The strike of the clapper arouses in the bronze a germ of sounds- a real bouquet of notes. It’s the tuning of the notes that will reveal the power and the purity of the Fundamental note. It’s the right dosing of intensity that will create the richness and amplitude of the tone.
UA single bell alone offers a whole harmony, the founder must compose the score; it is to him that falls the responsibility of the harmonisation of the bell’s. A science in its own right ! |
Inscriptions et Decorations Our big bells are distinguished by their beautiful presentation. They are decorated with friezes representing religious or bucolic motifs. We freely reproduce inscriptions that are special to each community, as well as effigies of saints and other religious motifs demanded and that make up our collection (about 5000 engravings).
A few great Paccard bells · 1891 : "La Savoyarde", 18,835kg, the largest bell in France. · 1914 : "La Jeanne D’Arc", 16 tons, the Victory Bell. ·1986 : Stephen, 19 tons, the big bell of the largest swinging bell set in the world. · 1998 : The World Peace Bell, 33 tons, the largest swinging bell in the world.
