The electrical panel for the bell is situated in the bell tower or in direct proximity to the bells. Its function is to group electrical installations together, the power supply, the protection of all electrical equipment of the bell.
Several electrical cables enter and leave the control panel : · The power cable provides electricity to the equipment connect to the control panel. · Electrical cables for swinging motor, electronic clapper, ringing motor, receptor piloting large clocks, clock controller. These cables are routed from the electrical panel and are connected to each piece of equipment. · The control cable is routed to the unit and comes from the master electronic clock controller (harmony). As its names suggests, this clock pilots all the rings of the bells as well as the receptors (motors running the clock hands). |
Characteristics of Electrical cabinet To conform to NFC 15 – 100 standards, a bell electrical cabinet must contain: • Protection by magneto-thermal circuit breaker for every power motor • A calibrated circuit breaker for groups of electromagnetic trip devices, or better, a calibrated circuit breaker by electromagnetic trip component • A specific circuit breaker calibrated for (command clock and/or the external hand receptors) • An external security switch • An electrical earth connection terminal for all equipment connected to the electrical panel • A cable layout Paccard electrical cabinets fulfil all criteria. |
