History of the PACCARD Bellfoundry

A flagship French industry in Annecy

Since then, 70% of its production are dedicated to exportation, mainly for USA, Canada and Japan. Africa also used to be an important customer in term of number of ordered bells, but these were lighter in weigth.

In 1986, Pierre PACCARD, Alfred's son, cast the biggest peal of swingin bells in the World for Canada. 1989 was also a big year for the foundry which moved to a new location in Sevrier, small town on the edge of Annecy's Lake.

The PACCARD Bellfoundry is now directed by Philippe PACCARD, assisted by his brother Cyril. As for them, they are leading the foundry into new technologies and new outlets, such as, for example, ARS SONORA®.

On the whole, more than 120 000 bells have been manufactured by the Paccards ! These bells were installed in as varied places as Paris, Rouen, Douai, Lourdes, New York, Dallas, Berkeley, Washington, Montréal, Tokyo, Saïgon, Seycelles Islands etc...

PACCARD also manufactures all bell accessories : strkers, frames, bell towers, mountings, clocks to program the ringing of bells. They also design studies for towers and carillons and assemble all necessary electronic parts. The PACCARD Bellfoundry is a very example of a company based upon a familial and traditional know-how which has been able to associate its ancestral expertise to new technologies. back to page 1
